Action Packed Fantasy Books Are Hard to Find

It seems that in the world of publishing, most books are split in their respective genres such as fantasy, action adventure, murder mystery, etc, which make finding action packed fantasy books difficult to find.

Problem is, then books are usually confined to a specific format when, or a generally excepted perception of those books is held regarding the style of it. A fantasy is then held against Tolkien, any new action adventure is held against Indiana Jones or even James Patterson, but what if your book melds multiple genres into one?

This a problem I faced when I began writing Crossblade (previously Paladin). I grew up playing games like Final Fantasy, Legend of Dragoon and Chrono Cross - all fantasy games with tons of action. And while I highly revere the works of Tolkien like many others, the slow paced fantasy (sorry kid that wrote Eragon, George Martin, so on) is just not for me. I wanted fantasy with a kick, by jove!

A good example of books like this are the Legend of Drizzt books. While the characters may be a trifle (understated) archetypical of the fantasy genre, I sped-read those books because they held my interest. Salvatore blends old school fantasy with upbeat action, and he's written over twenty book!

So is it possible to have action and fantasy together in one ream of pages? I say aye!

Paladin Name Change, Acbain Story Revealed

I changed Paladin's name to Crossblade to better reflect the nature of the story.

The book can now be found on Smashwords via the Crossblade book page.

Read My Books? Tell me What You Thought! And a free Book.

Welcome. I've been expecting you.

In a moment I'm going to tell you how you can get one of my books for free. But first:

First off, if you read Paladin (Crossblade, or any other book), thank you. I wrote it not for myself, but in the hopes that others (fans of fantasy and adventure) would read and enjoy.

Now, I know there is no perfect book. There are bad, good, decent, fair and great, and I honestly don't know where Crossblade lies. I rewrote parts of it three times at least, and it went through two full edits before being finished. it's also my first fully fleshed out book.

If you landed here via the link in the book, great! It's awesome to know that some people actually do take action when prompted. And I would ask that you take a few minutes to take just a tiny bit more.

Below, I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me what you thought of the book. I'm looking for an honest opinion. What did you like? What didn't you like? What did you think overall of the story? Things like that would be awesomesauce.

I'd also like to know one more thing: Are you interested in the sequel? Simple yes or no will suffice, but I like to push people. What would you like to see in the sequel? More backstory, action, suspense? No guarantees as to the change of the story itself, but I just might tweak it if enough people agree.

Paladin Now Live on Amazon

Hile, readers!

This morning (approximately 12:08) I finally put the ebook version of my book, Paladin on Amazon. I am still in the works of getting a publisher, but in the meantime, you can grab the electronic copy for just 3 bucks from the link in the sidebar.

What is Paladin?

The Crossblade Chronicles will eventually become a full trilogy at least, though there are more stories to come in the same world.

Everlasting fate is really a large umbvrella of different sets and series that all take place in the same world, either before or about the same time as this introduction series - the Crossblade Chronicles.

Paladin introduces Leon VanDesh, our young protagonist (as most fantasy stories semm to gravitate towards) and the struggles he faces both internally as well as externally. It also focuses on his love interest and those that are closest to him, as well as the select few whose destinies intertwine with his own to become one intricate tapestry.

Welcome to the Typist Chronicles

Hello potential reader. Welcome to the Typist Chronicles, an experiment to convey the randomness that is the ideas for my book series to come, Everlasting Fate. Everlasting Fate is actually not the name of the book series itself, but rather the umbrella or project name of the series as a whole.

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?

Did your brain just melt, or are you confused as to why you're even here? Well guess what: I'm confused. But glad you made it to be sure!

The Typist Chronicles actually began a few weeks ago when I seriously got to writing and realized I should have been keeping notes (D'oh!). Hopefully you'll follow me as I chronicle my way into becoming a real, recognized author, rather than just another guy at a keyboard, punching keys and filling white space. My goal is not fame or fortune, but rather to make a mark on the world. Well that... and to fill up some of the free time I have during the day while I watch my 19 month old son!

I'll be posting some status updates soon (tomorrow probably) as well as the original entries in the Typist Chronicles chronology.
